Sunday, November 2, 11:00am, SG, Fall Hikersí Hike

A strenuous hike over rough terrain - FOR EXPERIENCED HIKERS ONLY! All hikes are open to the public. Hike will leave from the bulletin board at the Sleeping Giant Park entrance on the north side of Mt. Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden, about 0.5 mile east of Whitney Avenue. Hikers should wear comfortable, supportive shoes and bring snacks and water, as desired. No pets, please. 

Tuesday, November 4, 9am, FCE-U, Avon Land Trust Trail

Meet on Nod Way in Avon. From the center of Avon, drive east on Rt. 44, take a left on Nod Rd., go almost a half mile, turn right on Nod Way and park about .3 mile up on the right. Anticipate an 11:30 return time. Hopefully this leaves you plenty of time to vote.  L: Marie Coons

Thursday, Nov. 6, 8:45 am, FCE - Sunnybrook State Park, Torrington POSTPONED TO DECEMBER 4th DUE TO RAIN AND WET TRAIL

Take Rt. 4 into Torrington. Pass Rt. 8 and turn R on Main St. At "Y"-jnc, take slight L onto Newfield Rd. Then ~2 mi. to park entrance on L. (Or meet at 8:10 to carpool at the Burlington commuter parking lot on Library Lane off Rt. 4 next to the Little League field.) We will do the Testone Boulder, Fadior Spring, Beaver Pond and Fyler trails. L: Len Berton

Sunday, November 9, 1:30pm. SG, Geology-of-the-Giant Hike

All hikes are open to the public. Hike will leave from the bulletin board at the Sleeping Giant Park entrance on the north side of Mt. Tuesday, November 11, 9am, FCE-U, Jericho Trail to Mattatuck Trail, Thomaston

Meet in Burlington at the commuter lot on Library Lane off of Rt. 4 for this 4.5 mile hike. We will carpool from here. Anticipate a return time of 2:00 pm.  L: Marie Coons

Thursday, Nov. 13, 8:45 am, FCE - Metacomet Trail, Bradley Mountain, Plainville/Southington  Postponed to Dec. 11 due to weather

Meet in Big Y parking lot on Rt. 372 in Plainville and we will carpool to the Ledge Rd. trailhead (which has limited parking). Out to Crescent Lake and back with several overlooks and 700' summit of Bradley Mtn. L: Len Berton

Tuesday, November 18, 9am, FCE-U, Whitestone Cliffs Trail/Jericho Trail, Thomaston

Meet in Burlington at the commuter lot on Library Lane off Rt. 4. We will carpool from there. We will hike the Whitestone connector trail and back down the Jericho trail. This is a 4 mile hike so anticipate a return time of 1:30 pm. Bring water/snacks/lunch. L: Marie Coons

Thursday Nov. 20, 8:45 am, FCE -- Tunxis Loop, Burlington

Meet on Mountain Spring Rd. just off Rt 4 in Burlington to do a Tunxis blue & purple-dot loop. Park along the road facing away from highway. Following the hike, those who wish to celebrate the end of our successful season will adjourn to Cassille's Restaurant for lunch. (Note to those lunching but not hiking - plan on getting to Cassille's back room about noon.) L: Len Berton
