Sunday, September 2,  Bald Peak and Lion’s Head in Salisbury. 

Led by Walt Landgraf, this hike visits waterfalls, old foundations, outstanding vistas and two iron furnaces.

Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the entrance to the Matthies Grove Picnic Area, Peoples State Forest on East River Rd. Bring water, insect spray, lunch, and allow about 5 hours for this hike of about 3 miles, with some steep up and down sections. We plan to return to Peoples about 2 p.m.

Wednesday, September 5 Appalachian Trail, Salisbury  Note: this is a second schedule change 
Either Bear Mt. or Lions Head and Bald Peak  Bring lunch.

Friday, September 7 Metacomet Trail. Will Warren’s Den and beyond. Note: this is an addition to the schedule  -- make up of previous cancellation.

Sunday, September 9  Cathles Property, Simsbury Land Conservation Trust

Led by Walt Landgraf, this hike covers trap rock and metamorphic rock ridges, major fault line, charcoal hearths, and outstanding vistas.

Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the entrance to the Matthies Grove Picnic Area, Peoples State Forest on East River Rd. Bring water, insect spray, lunch, and allow about 4 hours for this hike of about 3 miles, with some steep up and down sections. We plan to return to Peoples about 1 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 15  Sierra Club Hike - Mt. Moosilauke, New Hampshire (Raindate Sunday Sep. 16)
Approx. 7 miles RT with 2400' vertical rise (approx. 5 hrs. hiking time). Climb to 4800' bare summit.  Strenuous, but moderate pace.  Leaving about 6:30AM and returning about 8:30-9:00PM with a dinner stop enroute.  Drive time: 7 hrs. RT.  Bring lunch, water, raingear, warm jacket. Good hiking boots recommended.  Membership not necessary.  Leader Rich Stanley (860-242-1080).

Sunday, September 16,  Upper Tunxis Trail in Hartland

Led by Walt Landgraf, this hike visits Hurricane Brook Ravine, old foundations, and beautiful stands of northern hardwood forests.

Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the entrance to the Matthies Grove Picnic Area, Peoples State Forest on East River Rd. Bring water, insect spray, lunch, and allow about 4 hours for this hike of about 4 miles, with some steep up and down sections. We plan to return to Peoples about 1:30 p.m.

Led by Walt Landgraf, this hike visits Wildcat Rock Shelter, Tipping Rock, and Rome Spare Vista.

Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the entrance to the Matthies Grove Picnic Area, Peoples State Forest on East River Rd. Bring water, insect spray, lunch, and allow about 4 hours for this hike of about 5 miles, with some steep up and down sections. We plan to return to Peoples about 1:30 p.m.

Sessions Woods, Burlington:
  Take Rt. 4 west through Unionville and up the hill into Burlington. In the center of Burlington, take a left onto Rt. 69 south and travel a few miles to Session Woods. The sign is on the right and the parking lot is up the hill on the left.

Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the entrance to the Matthies Grove Picnic Area, Peoples State Forest on East River Rd. Bring water, insect spray, lunch, and allow about 8 hours for this hike of about 6.5 miles, with some steep up and down sections We plan to return to Peoples about 4:30 p.m.
