Use this hike to complete your Mattabesett thru hike. About 3 hrs. incl. snack break at Eagle's Beak Pt. Meet Haddam Elementary pkng. lot Rte. 154, NW of Rte. 81, Higganum. Heavy rain cancels. Sunday, July 14, 9:00 a.m. Sleeping Giant Midsummer Day's Hike Meet at the bulletin board at the park entrance. The Sleeping Giant Park is on Mt. Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden, on the left-hand side, about 0.5 mile in from Whitney Avenue (Rt. 10). Hikers should wear comfortable, supportive shoes and bring snacks and water Wednesday, July 17, 8:45 a.m. Peak Mtn & Newgate Wildlife Trails (& maybe Newgate Prison) Meet at Borders in Simsbury. Wednesday, July 31, 8:45 a.m. Tunxis Loop, Burlington On red-dot branch, we will climb up to Perry's Lookout on Taine Mountain, then up Wildcat Mountain, through to Stone Rd, and loop back on purple-dot branch.. Take Rt. 4 to Burlington, continue left on Rt. 4 at Rt. 179 traffic light, then left on Punch Brook Rd about half a mile west of the light. Meet halfway down Ryan's Way, which is 2nd right off Punch Brook Rd about 1 mile south of Rt. 4. Estimated return to cars - noon. L: Len Berton |
