Friday, Mar. 1, 9 a.m.  Metacomet Trail, Farmington - Will Warren's Den (and beyond)

Meet on Pinnacle Road, Farmington.  Going east on Rt. 6, Pinnacle Rd. is the first right after the big curve near the top of a hill. Going west on Rt. 6, Pinnacle Rd. is the first real road on the left after passing the Tilcon-Tomasso gravel operation.  Return to cars around noon.  Leader: Diana Meyer

Sun., March 3, 1:30 p.m. Sleeping Giant Winter Tree Identification Hike

Meet at the bulletin board at the park entrance.  The Sleeping Giant Park is on Mt. Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden, on the left-hand side, about 0.5 mile in from Whitney Avenue (Rt. 10).  Hikers should wear comfortable, supportive shoes and bring snacks and water

Wednesday, March 6, 8:45 am, Bald Eagle Watch, Southbury

Meet at Farmington CPL, Rt. 4 at Town Farm Rd. Car pools will leave by 9 sharp.  Jane Macomber has reserved slots for a maximum of 18 people at the Shepaug Eagle Observation Area where (hopefully) the bald eagles will be hanging out.  Bring binoculars and cameras if desired.  A hike will also be planned in that area, following the eagle watch, such as Kettletown State Park.  Bring lunch/snacks and water.  Probable return to cars late afternoon.  Bad weather cancels.  Click Send email to Len to book a slot.   Leaders: Jane Macomber/Diana Meyer

Friday, Mar. 8, 9 a.m.  Tunxis Trail - Mile of Ledges, Tory Den, Burlington

Meet at Sessions Woods parking lot off Rt. 69 in Burlington.  We will do this trail from a different starting point on East Plymouth Road, in Plymouth.  It's listed as 4.5 miles and taking 4 hours in one of the walk books.  It will be a "lollypop" on Tunxis Trail through Mile of Ledges, up Greer Road, and back through Tory Den on the yellow-dot to the cars.  Bring lunch; expect to be back at cars by 2:00PM.  Leader: Diana Meyer

Sun., March 10, 11:00 a.m. Sleeping Giant Spring Hikers’ Hike 

EXPERIENCED HIKERS ONLY!  A strenuous hike over rough terrain.  Meet at the bulletin board at the park entrance.  The Sleeping Giant Park is on Mt. Meet at Sessions Woods parking lot, off Rt. 69, Burlington. We'll car pool from there to South Main Street parking area (Plymouth) near  Buttermilk Falls.  Expect to be back at Sessions Woods by 1:00PM  Leader: Diana Meyer

Friday, Mar. 22, 9 a.m.  Huckleberry Hills/Found Land, Avon 

Meet at Stop & Shop parking lot, Unionville; Friendly's side (west).  Or meet at the former Huckleberry Hills School 9:15AM (south of Lofgren Rd. on Avon's Huckleberry Hills Rd.)  Back to cars by 12:30PM.  Leader: Diana Meyer

Saturday, Mar. 23, 10 a.m.  AMC Hike, Kettletown State Park, Southbury (B3C) 

Hike past a river, into the woods, down to beach for lunch, through woods with view of Zoar Lake. Meet Southbury commuter parking lot, exit 14 off I-84.  Heavy rain cancels.  If in doubt, call L by 9am.  L Nancy Hatfield (270-3346).

Sunday, Mar. 24, 9 a.m.  AMC Hike, Hubbard Park, Meriden (B2B) 

Red Tr. To Halfway House - Summit Castle (360° view) - cliffs along reservoir to reservoir road.  Meet in Meriden at Hubbard Park in the parking lot near the swimming pool.  I-691 to exit 4, east 7 miles to park.  Heavy rain cancels. L Russ Charest (237-0168).

Thursday, Mar. 28, 10 a.m.  AMC Hike, Sleeping Giant State Park, Hamden (B3B) 

An early spring hike of approximately 8 miles of ups and downs over various trails. Many great views.  Meet at the Park entrance in Hamden off Rt 10, across from Quinnipiac University.  Rain cancels.  L Dave Mihalek (734-2665).

Friday, Mar. 29, 9 a.m.  Tunxis TraiI, Indian Council Caves, Barkhamsted

Meet at Marandino's Market, Rt. 44, New Hartford.  Car pool to start point on Legeyt Rd., off Rt. 179, Barkhamsted.  Return to cars around 12:30.  Leader: Diana Meyer

[Note: April "Friday" hikes may switch to Tuesdays. Spring wildflowers and daffodils will be targeted!]

Saturday, Mar. 30, 10 a.m.  AMC Hike, Heublein Tower, Simsbury (B3B/C) 

Hike up Tower Trail (moderate climb).  25 minute stop for lunch and exploring.  Return by Metacomet Trail (approximately 4 miles).  Then take one mile option back to car, or 3 mile walk around reservoir.  Pleasant wooded walk.  Meet West Hartford in the rear parking lot of Reservoir #6.  Route 44 (Albany Ave.)  Rain or poor trail conditions cancel.  If in doubt, call L by 9am.  L Joyce Clark (860-206-0758).

Sunday, Mar. 31, 10:30 a.m.  AMC Hike, A.T., Salisbury to Falls Village (B3B/C) 

Beautiful hike in northwestern CT.  See Rand's View and the Great Falls at Falls Village.  Joint hike with the Westport Singles Hiking Group.  Join us for an inexpensive meal after the hike.  Meet in Falls Village at the parking lot of the Regional High School.  School is on left of Rt. 7 just north of the junction of Rt's 7 & 112 when heading north.  Steady rain or snow cancels.  If in doubt, call L by 7:30am.  L Phil Statlender (284-1491).
