Saturday, November 2, 10:00 a.m., SC Hike, White Memorial Foundation & Conservation Center, Litchfield

An approx. 6 mile relaxed hike over rolling terrain. Meet at the park entrance parking lot by the museum (off Rt. 202. Whitehall Rd., about 2 miles west of Litchfield Center). Rain date Nov. 3rd. Call Michael Hofmann at 860-521-6161 for more info.

Sunday, November 3, 11:00 a.m. Sleeping Giant Fall Hikersí Hike

EXPERIENCED HIKERS ONLY!  Meet at the bulletin board at the park entrance.  The Sleeping Giant Park is on Mt. Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden, on the left-hand side, about 0.5 mile in from Whitney Avenue (Rt. 10).  Hikers should wear comfortable, supportive shoes and bring snacks and water

Meet in the Burlington Commons parking lot at the intersection of Rts 4 and 69 in Burlington and anticipate a 1:00 PM return..  L: Marie Coons

Thursday, November 7, 8:45 a.m., FCE Hike, Roraback Wildlife Area, Harwinton 

Take Rt 4 west through Burlington into Harwinton.  Take a left onto South Rd. (about the 3rd left after Rt 72), a right on Swimming Hole Rd. (looks like first right on my map), and park in the lot on the left before the bridge and brook.  L: Marie Coons

Saturday, November 9, 9:30 a.m., AMC Hike, AT Jug End - Mt Everett (B3A)

Panorama views in all directions on this popular but strenuous hike. Lunch at Guilder Pond, pleasant & serene, followed by rugged ascent to lookout point on top of Mt Everett, 2nd highest in MA. Going down pass exciting Race Brook Falls. Meet Salisbury CT in front of the White Hart Inn. Rt. 44 W to jct. Rt. 41 N. Bad weather or fog cancels. Tuesday, November 12,  8:45 a.m.,  "Unofficial" FCE Hike, Mattabesett Trail on Beseck Mt., Middletown-Durham

Meet at the commuter parking lot on the corner of Rt. 4 and Town Farm Rd. in Farmington.  We should be back to the cars about 2 PM after this 5.7 mile hike.  L: Marie Coons

Thursday, November 14, 8:45 a.m., FCE Hike,  Canton Land Trust Trails, Canton -- "PICNIC" to follow

We are going to combine a few trails in the same general area.  Meet in the lot next to the Ray Smith Trail. Follow Rt. 44 west through Avon, into Canton, past Saybrook Fish House, and take a right onto Indian Hill Rd. (this is about the 6th right after Rt. 179). Follow Indian Hill Rd. (even as it curves left) and take a left into the parking area soon after you pass Spaulding Rd. (which is on the right).  L: Marie Coons

Saturday, November 16, 9:30 a.m., AMC Hike, CFPA Mattabesett hike on Mt. Pisgah (B2B)

Join a CT Forest & Park Assoc. sponsored hike on the premier Mattabesett Tr.  Hike 6 miles from Rte. 77 to Rte. 79.  See vista from Mt. Pisgah on a reopened section.  Meet at intersection of Old Blue Hills Rd. and Rte. 79, 0.8 miles south of Rte. 17 and Rte. 79 intersection. . Sunday, November 17, 11:00 a.m. AMC Hike, Naugatuck State Forest (B2B)

Short but exciting hike near Rte. 8 south of Waterbury.  Steep climbs, rocky gorges, great views.  Lunch on trail.  Meet in CPL at north end of Beacon Falls Village.  On Rt8 - from S, exit 23 and through village; from N, exit 24 to CPL.  Heavy rain cancels.  If doubt, call by 9 AM. Tuesday, November 19,  8:45 a.m.,  "Unofficial" FCE Hike, Mattabesett Trail on Paug and Trimountain, Durham

Meet at the commuter parking lot on the corner of Rt 4 and Town Farm Rd. in Farmington.  We should be back to the cars by 3 PM after this 6.5 mile hike.   L: Marie Coons

Meet in New Hartford in the Marandino's parking lot (across from Satan's Kingdom).  We are going to attempt a long hike today of almost 10 miles, so our return to the cars will be about 5 PM..  L: Marie Coons

Saturday, November 23, 9:30 a.m., AMC Hike, Steep Rock Reservation (B3BC)

Sunday, November 24, 10:00 a.m. AMC Hike, Tunxis Trail (C2B)

Four mi. loop hike, includes Mile of Ledges and Tory Den. L is bringing dog (yellow lab).  Meet in historic Lamson Cemetery, Rte. 69 in Burlington at Scoville Rd.  Take Rte. 69 in Burlington, roughly 2 mi. S of Rte. 4 and 2 mi. Tuesday, November 26,  8:45 a.m.,  "wee hike",  Hillstead Museum/Metacomet Trail - Farmington

Burn a few calories to make room for Thanksgiving dinner!  Meet in Hillstead Museum visitor lot.  Entrance off Mountain Road through stone pillars.  Lot is out back to the east.  Follow the winding driveway past the Museum building and the office barns. (Warning: there may be road work on Mountain Road.)  This will be only a short walk. Back to cars by 11 or 11:30AM  Heavy rain (and anything worse) cancels!  L: Diana Meyer
