Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden, on the left-hand side, about 0.5 mile in from Whitney Avenue (Rt. 10). (about the 3rd left after Rt 72), a right on Swimming Hole Rd. (looks like first right on my map), and park in the lot on the left before the bridge and brook. Lunch at Guilder Pond, pleasant & serene, followed by rugged ascent to lookout point on top of Mt Everett, 2nd highest in MA. Going down pass exciting Race Brook Falls. Meet Salisbury CT in front of the White Hart Inn. Rt. 44 W to jct. Rt. 41 N. Bad weather or fog cancels. Meet in the lot next to the Ray Smith Trail. Follow Rt. 44 west through Avon, into Canton, past Saybrook Fish House, and take a right onto Indian Hill Rd. (this is about the 6th right after Rt. 179). Follow Indian Hill Rd. (even as it curves left) and take a left into the parking area soon after you pass Spaulding Rd. (which is on the right). Pisgah (B2B) Join a CT Forest & Park Assoc. sponsored hike on the premier Mattabesett Tr. Hike 6 miles from Rte. 77 to Rte. 79. See vista from Mt. Pisgah on a reopened section. Meet at intersection of Old Blue Hills Rd. and Rte. 79, 0.8 miles south of Rte. 17 and Rte. 79 intersection. . If in doubt, call by 8:30 AM. Meet in historic Lamson Cemetery, Rte. 69 in Burlington at Scoville Rd. Take Rte. 69 in Burlington, roughly 2 mi. S of Rte. 4 and 2 mi. N of Bristol town line. If doubt, call by 9 AM. Meet in Hillstead Museum visitor lot. Entrance off Mountain Road through stone pillars. Lot is out back to the east. Follow the winding driveway past the Museum building and the office barns. (Warning: there may be road work on Mountain Road.) This will be only a short walk. Back to cars by 11 or 11:30AM Heavy rain (and anything worse) cancels!
