Sunday, August 3, 9:00 a.m., PSF Hike, Camp White in American Legion Forest We will explore the CCC camp area on the ground and with pictures, and the ecosystem of the lower Buck Trail, which was the location of our spring flower walk. About 1½ miles of easy walking. Estimated time about 2 hours. Meet at the entrance to the PSF Matthies Grove Picnic Area, on East River Rd. Bring water and insect spray. Heavy rain cancels. One steep scramble. Ice cream afterwards. Limited parking at trail head. Meet CPL off Rte. 118, W (Litchfield NOT Harwinton) side of exit 42, Rte. 8. Either north (over Peak Mtn. with views to west) or south (a section we might not have done) from Rt. 20 & Newgate Rd. Bring lunch. Meet at Border's/Simsbury - Jnc. Rts. 44/167. Expect return to cars by 2:00PM L: Diana Meyer Saturday Aug. 23, 9 a.m., AMC Hike, Northern Nipmuck Trail & Breakneck Pond View Trail Loop (B3C). 8 mi. loop including N portion of Nipmuck Tr. from near Rte. 171 to MA border then onto Breakneck Pond View Tr. back to start. Meet in Union; From I-84 Ex. 73, E on Rte. 190 to 171, E to Bigelow Hollow SP entrance. Meet at first PL on right (before brown bulletin board). Rain cancels, call by 8 AM. Wednesday, August 27, 8:30 a.m., Green/Blue/Orange Tunxis Lollipop Rescheduled hike from July 11. Relaxed 4.4 miles, suitable for warmer weather.
