Saturday, March 1, 2003,  10 a.m., SC Hike, WHITE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION & CONSERVATION CENTER, Litchfield

Meet at the park entrance parking lot by the museum off Route 202 (Whitehall Road, about 2 miles west of Litchfield Center), for a relaxed 6+ mile hike.  Rain date March 2.  Call Michael Hofmann at (860) 521-6161 for more information.

Sunday, March 2, 2003,  10:00 a.m.,  AMC Hike, Northwest Park (B3C/D)

A 5.5 or 7.5 mi. loop hike on pretty woodland trails.  Easy hiking w/ only one small hill.  Hiking boots required.  Meet CPL, exit 38, I-91, Windsor.  Rain or snow cancels.  If doubt, call leader by 9 a.m.  L: Barry Resnick (860-649-7894).

Sunday, March 2, 2003,  1:30 p.m.,  SG Hike, Winter Tree Identification

Hike will leave from the bulletin board at the park entrance.  The Sleeping Giant Park is on Mt. Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden,
about 0.5 mile in from Whitney Avenue, on the left-hand side of the street.  Hikers should wear comfortable, supportive shoes and bring
snacks and water, as desired.  Please do not bring pets.  The hike is open to the public, and there is no fee.

Tuesday, March 4, 2003,  8:45 a.m., Sweetheart Mountain, Canton

Meet in Collinsville next to the big antiques building behind the Station House Coffee Shop.  Bring snowshoes if you have them.  Back to cars before noon.  Optional lunch nearby at LaSalle Market (great sandwiches!).  L: Marie Coons

Friday, March 7, 2003,  8:45 a.m., Farmington DEP Trails

There are two new DEP trails in Shade Swamp Sanctuary.  We'll bring the GPS and have a true adventure.  Each trail looks to be roughly 1 mile out and another mile return.  Meet beside CVS in Post Office Square on Rt. 10 Farmington to carpool over to either the "white" or the "blue" trail in Shade Swamp off Rt. 6.  Expect return to cars by noon at the latest.  L: Diana Meyer

Loop hikes on Tunxis & Valley Overlook trails.  Optional hike into Farmington R. gorge.  Net elev. gain 500’ (150 M).  Bring snack.  Polite dogs on leash welcome.  Pizza after.
