First meeting at Farmington CPL, Rt. 4 at Town Farm
Rd. Please call 860-404-0290 and specify Course #1301 to register for this series of 8
official hikes (approx. 4 - 6 miles each) + 5+ "unofficials."
TODAY: Avon Land Trust, Avon
We will carpool to the Hunter's Run condos off of Nod Rd. in Avon. If
rain, dress for the weather. L:

"Unofficial", M-M-M Trail, Hadley, MA
Meet in Avon at Sperry Park (upper lot) for this 7-8 mile hike. This park
is located just north of RT 44 on RT 10 at the light between the old Towpath
School and the Avon Wellness Center. Along with superb views, we will also see
the Mt. Holyoke Summit House. Anticipate a 4 pm return time to the cars.. L:

This DEP area is located off of RT 6 between New Britain Ave. and RT 177 in
Farmington. There is a DEP sign at the entrance off RT 6, follow driveway in and
park by the trailhead. L:

A moderate 2 hour forested hike over rolling terrain. Meet at the main

Metacomet Trail-Bradley Mt., Plainville/Southington
Meet in the lot across from Rogers Orchard's store. The way I drive here is RT
10 south, bear left onto Cooke St., left onto RT 372, right onto Crooked St.,
right on Woodford Ave., left on Ledge Rd., and follow Ledge Rd. even as it
changes its name to Shuttlemeadow Rd. (now you are in Southington). At the
intersection with Long Bottom Rd., take a right and the parking lot will be on
your left. Anticipate a return time of 11:30 am. L:

April 25, 1:30 pm, SGH, Spring Wildflower Hike
Meet at the bulletin board at the park entrance. The Sleeping Giant Park is
on Mt. Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden, on the left-hand side, about ¼ mile in
from Whitney Avenue (Rt. 10). Hikers should wear comfortable, supportive shoes
and bring snacks and water, as desired and dress for the weather. Please do not
bring pets. The hikes are open to the public, and there is no fee. CL: Chris

Park in the lot at Satan's Kingdom Recreation area on RT 44 just west of the
bridge that goes over the Farmington River in New Hartford. Anticipate a return
