                                FEBRUARY 2004 SCHEDULE

Tuesday, February 3, 8:45 a.m., LH, Simsbury Bog and Western Highlands

Saddle Ridge section of West Simsbury.  Meet in the Simsbury Commons Border's parking lot and we will car pool from there. We will snowshoe or hike depending upon the conditions and we should be back to the cars about 11:30.  L: Marie Coons  [Stay tuned for more Feb. Tuesdays.]

Tuesday, February 10, 8:45 a.m., LH, Tunxis Trail, Burlington

Meet at Burlington Commons, jnc. Rts. 4 & 69. We will carpool from here to snowshoe a section of the Tunxis Trail in Burlington. Plan on being back to the cars before noon. L: Marie Coons

Tuesday, February 17, 8:45 a.m., LH, Holcomb Farm, W. Granby

We'll snowshoe or hike depending upon the conditions on the east trails -- about 3 miles.  Meet near the corner of Main St. and Front St. in the the rails-to-trails parking lot in Collinsville. From Unionville, take Rt. 179 north, then a right over the Farmington River bridge, and right onto Front St. behind the Station House coffee shop.  There is also a municipal parking lot opposite if needed.  We should be back to the cars about 11:30.  Followed by [optional] lunch at LaSalle Market.  L: Len Berton

Tuesday, February 24, 8:45 a.m., LH, Godard Preserve, Granby

Meet in the Simsbury Commons Border's parking lot and we will car pool from there.  Anticipate a 1 pm return time, so bring food.  L: Marie Coons

Sunday, February 29, 1:30 pm, SGH, Winter Tree Identification Hike

Meet at the bulletin board at the park entrance. The Sleeping Giant Park is on Mt. Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden, on the left-hand side, about ¼ mile in from Whitney Avenue (Rt. 10). Hikers should wear comfortable, supportive shoes and bring snacks and water, as desired and dress for the weather. Please do not bring pets. The hikes are open to the public, and there is no fee.  L: Chris Fagan et al
