                                JANUARY 2004 SCHEDULE

Thursday, January 1, 2004,  1:30 p.m.,  SG Hike, New Year's Day 

Carpool meeting at Farmington CPL (Rt.4 & Town Farm Rd.) at 12:30.
Start the new year "on the right foot."  Hike will leave from the bulletin board at the park entrance.  The Sleeping Giant Park is on Mt. Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden, about 0.5 mile in from Whitney Avenue, on the left-hand side of the street.  Hikers should wear comfortable, supportive shoes and bring snacks and water, as desired.  Please do not bring pets.  The hike is open to the public, and there is no fee.

Tuesday, January 6, 8:45 am, LH, Sunny Brook State Park, Torrington

We will take both the Testone Boulder trail and the Fodior Spring trail loops.  Total distance about 4 miles.  If enough snow magically appears by then, we will snowshoe.  Meet at Burlington Commons, jnc. Rts.69 & 4.  Estimated return time about noon - 1pm.  L: Len Berton

Tuesday, January 13, 8:45 a.m., LH, "Marie's Woods" (aka Avon Old Farms), Avon

Meet on Thompson Rd., Avon, in the Rails-for-Trails parking lot where M.H. Rhodes used to have a building. We will snowshoe or hike depending upon the conditions and anticipate an 11 am return time. L: Marie Coons

Tuesday, January 20, 8:45 a.m., LH, Onion Mt., Simsbury

Meet in the Simsbury Commons Border's parking lot and we will car pool from there. We will snowshoe or hike depending upon the conditions and anticipate being back to the cars by 11:30 am. L: Marie Coons

Tuesday, January 27, 8:45 a.m., LH, McLean Game Refuge, Granby-Simsbury

Meet in the Simsbury Commons Border's parking lot and we will car pool from there. We will snowshoe or hike depending upon the conditions and we should be back to the cars by 12 noon. L: Marie Coons
