NOVEMBER 2004 SCHEDULE
Thursday, Nov. 4, 8:45 a.m., FCE, Metacomet Trail to Castle Craig to Hubbard Park, Meriden
Meet in Hubbard Park, Meriden near the tennis courts. Take Rt 84 west to Rt 691 east to exit 4, Rt 322 east (West Main St.). Less than a mile up on the left is Hubbard Park. Take a left into the entrance and follow around the lake to the lot. Again we will car spot to finish this hike by 11:30 am. Today we will encounter a few steep sections (both up and down) so bring your hiking poles/sticks. L: Marie Coons
Sunday, November 7, 11:00 am, SG, Fall Hikers’ Hike
A strenuous hike over rough terrain -- EXPERIENCED HIKERS ONLY! Meet at the bulletin board at the park entrance. The Sleeping Giant Park is on Mt. Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden, on the left-hand side, about ¼ mile in from Whitney Avenue (Rt. 10). Hikers should wear comfortable, supportive shoes and bring snacks and water, as desired and dress for the weather. Please do not bring pets. The hikes are open to the public, and there is no fee. East Haddam off Rt. 82. Hike 3 mile double loops -- 6 miles total. Meet at pkg lot near upper falls. Bring lunch. 201-536-9891 for more info. Rain cancels.

This is going to be a wonderviewfull (my own word) day with 7 miles of memorable hiking. Meet at Marandino's and we will not return until 6 pm. Pack plenty of water, food, and layers. L: Marie Coons
Thursday, Nov. 11 - - Veterans' Day, 8:45 a.m., FCE, Holcomb/McLean, W. Granby
Meet in Borders parking lot in Simsbury Commons and we will carpool to Holcomb Farm [or you can meet there, Simsbury Rd., W. Granby at 9:20) -- We will go to McLean Game Refuge area for an exploring hike to see if we can find a route up the western Barndoor Hill. Anticipate a 12 noon return time. L: Marie Coons

Meet at Burlington Commons shopping center (Rt.4/69 junction). We will do almost 10 miles south from NY/CT border. Anticipate a 6 pm return time. Pack plenty of water, food, and clothing layers. L: Marie Coons
Thursday, Nov. 18, 8:45 a.m., FCE, Metacomet Trail, Tariffville Gorge + PICNIC
Follow Rt 10-202 into Simsbury, to Rt 315, to left onto Rt 189, go over the
bridge and park on the right. Expect some inclines and views on this last
official hike.
After the hike we will have an indoor "picnic" at Carrie Wolfberg's
house in Simsbury. Everyone brings something to share. Click here
