DECEMBER 2006 SCHEDULE
Sunday, December 3, 1:30pm. SG, Holiday Hike and Social
Hike starts at 1:30 PM, Social and songs at 3:00 PM. Choice of short or long hike. All hikes are open to the public. Hike will leave from the bulletin board at the Sleeping Giant Park entrance on the north side of Mt. Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden, about 0.5 mile east of Whitney Avenue. Hikers should wear comfortable, supportive shoes and bring snacks and water, as desired. No pets, please.
Tuesday, December 5, 8:45am, FCE-U - Metacomet Trail/Will Warren's Den, Farmington
Meet on Pinnacle Rd. opposite Reservoir Rd. (off Rt. 6 in Farmington just west of the Tomasso gravel operation). This is a pleasant trail with some moderate ups and downs. Bring water & snacks. Back by noon. L: Jane Macomber
Thursday, December 7, 8:45am, FCE-U - Tunxis Trails, Burlington
A fairly easy 4.2 miles on white-dot, green-dot, and blue trails. Meet on Mountain Spring Rd. , and we will carpool to the trailhead. This road is about a mile W of jct. Rt. 4 & Rt. 179. Park 50 yds. down from Rt. 4 on the right along wooded area adjacent to Fish Hatchery entrance. Bring water and snacks. Est. back by 11:30. L: Len Berton
Tuesday, December 12, 9:30am, FCE-U - Sleeping Giant State Park, Hamden
Meet at CPL on Rt. 4, Farmington (next to golf course) for carpool to SG. Group will discuss choice of trails. Probably about 5 - 6 miles on moderate terrain. Could include nice overlooks above Quinnipiac University and other viewpoints. Bring water, snacks and lunch. Estimated return before 3pm (rough guess, depending on trails selected). L: Len Berton

From Tariffville to Penwood, a 5.3 mile hike along a traprock ridge. Meet at Penwood for car spot. Park is located on rte. 185, 1 mile north of the jct. of rtes. 178/185 at the Bloomfield/Simsbury town line. L: Gene Grayson (860-529-8434)
Sunday, December 17, noon, AMC, Hop Brook Lake, Naugatuck (C3B/C)

Thursday, December 21, 10am, AMC, Wadsworth Falls, Middletown. (C3C)
3 miles with forest and 2 falls. One fairly steep stretch. Carpool meets at Farmington CPL (Rt.4 & Town Farm Rd. adj. to golf course) at 9:05am for 9:15 departure or meet at Wadsworth State Park at 10am.
