Sunday, May 3, 1:30pm. SG, Spring Wildflower Hike

All hikes are open to the public. Hike will leave from the bulletin board at the Sleeping Giant Park entrance on the north side of Mt. Carmel Avenue in northern Hamden, about 0.5 mile east of Whitney Avenue. Hikers should wear comfortable, supportive shoes and bring snacks and water, as desired. No pets, please.

Sunday, May 3, 2pm, Burlington Land Trust Annual Meeting, Sessions Woods

Guest speaker: Dan DeLuca, a retired teacher and historian from Meridan, will talk about his book: The Old Leather Man: Historical Accounts of a Connecticut and New York Legend.  The program is free and open to the public. Click here for more information.

Tuesday, May 5, 8:45 am, FCE-U, Mattatuck Trail, Cornwall  postponed 3 times, & again, postponed due to the weather.  Let's try May 12.

Meet in the parking lot of Canton Ocean State Job Lots for this 6.0 mile hike. We will walk the last section of the Mattatuck Trail to its intersection with the Mohawk Trail. Bring snacks, lunch & water. Anticipate a mid to late afternoon return time. L: Marie Coons 

Thursday, May 7, 8:45am, FCE  - McLean Game Refuge, Granby postponed to 6/4 due to thunderstorms in the weather forecasts

Meet in the parking lot off Rt 10/202 near the Simsbury-Granby town line. A group member requested that we visit one of the Barndoor Hills this season.

Meet in the commuter parking lot at the corner of Rt. 4 and Town Farm Rd. in Farmington for this 5 mile hike on the southern section of this trail. Anticipate a mid to late afternoon return time. L: Marie Coons

Meet on Pinnacle Rd. opposite Reservoir Rd. (off Rt. 6 in Farmington) for the car spot. Park on shoulders and along road, staying well clear of driveways. We will carpool to start near MDC Reservoir #3 and do the section N of the one we have done in past seasons.

Meet in the commuter parking lot (next to Little League field) on Library Lane off Rt. 4 in Burlington to carpool to this 6-mile hike. Anticipate a mid to late afternoon return time. L: Marie Coons

Thursday, May 28, 8:45am, FCE  -- Tunxis Trails, Burlington

From Rt. 4 (at the Town Hall), take Belden Rd. S. Turn L and go about .3 mile and park on shoulder along the George Washington Turnpike at the crossing of the white-dot Tunxis Trail. We will carpool to the trailhead on Taine Mountain Rd. Following the hike, we will celebrate the "official" end of our successful season with lunch at a nice local restaurant.
