Thursday, October 4th, 8:45 am , FCE -- Sessions Woods/Tunxis Trail, Burlington

Park at the Sessions Woods Education Center, just off Rt. 69. The hike will start on the right-hand side; off the gravel parking lot. We will hike into Sessions Woods on the joint Tunxis/Beaver Pond Trail and then take the Tunxis Mainline around the Beaver Marsh. Using the Tunxis/Nature Center Connector Trail, we will return to Sessions Woods and use the Beaver Pond Trail to complete the approximately 5 mile loop. CWB map TU-3b. Thursday, October 11, 2012, 8:45 AM, FCE, Ragged Mountain, Berlin

5 mile loop, starting with the Green-dot trail, then to the Metacomet to the summit of Ragged Mountain, and then back to the parking lot. Take Rt 4 east to Rt 84 west, and take left exit onto Rt 72 east. Exit on Rt 372 (Corbin Ave.) south. Take right fork onto Rt 71A (Chamberlain Hwy) south. In about a mile, turn right onto West Lane (6th street on right). Follow West Lane to the Ragged Mt. Preserve sign and park. Carpoolers can meet on Rt 4 at Tunxis Park & Ride at Rt 4 and Town Farms Road at 8 AM. See CWB p.163 for more info. L: Tom Iezzi

Tunxis Blue Trail from Ski Sundown to Ratlum Road parking area. P. 309 CT Walk Book. 3.5+ miles. Plenty of climbing and views of Lake McDonough. Option: We can add another 1+ miles and hike to Route 219. Meet: Ratlum Road northern trail head. From junction of Route 179 / Route 219 in Barkhamsted go south 1.5 miles on Route 219 to Ratlum Road. Turn left [south] and proceed .3 mile to parking area on left. We will carpool to Ski Sundown and return hike to parking area. L: Jerry Marcum 860 810 0087

Thursday, October 25, 8:45 am, FCE - Breezy Hill Farm Loop, Canton

We will be hiking 2 - 2 1/2 hours on several Canton Land Trust properties that encircle the Breezy Hill Farm. Meet at the Sun, Wind, and Woodland property parking lot. Take Rt 44 past the Saybrook Fish House toward New Hartford. R onto Indian Hill Rd. until it ends. R on Breezy Hill Road. Go to the top of the hill past the red house on the left, and the Sun, Wind, and Woodland parking lot will be on your left with a big yellow sign and a kiosk.
