First Hike of the Fall Season, September 19, 8:45AM, FCE, McLean Game Refuge, Granby
Meet at junction of Barndoor Hills Rd and Simsbury Rd in Granby, adjacent to
the Simsbury town line. We will hike the North Trail, cross Bissell Brook on the
Creek Trail, and return on the Horse Trail. CWBW pg149. From Simsbury center
take Hopmeadow St (Rt10/202); turn left onto Ely Ln which becomes Hoskins Rd. At
fork, bear right on County Rd which becomes Simsbury Rd. Continue straight to
the intersection of Simsbury Rd and Barndoor Hills Rd and roadside parking.

Thursday, September 26, 8:45 am, FCE - WH Reservoir to The Hillstead, Farmington
Meet at the parking lot at the Hillstead Museum, Farmington (From Farmington Center take Rt 10 S, turn left on Mountain Rd. Museum entrance is on the left approximately ¼ mile from Rt 10. Follow the driveway past the museum, the lot is on the far side of the museum building). We will car pool to the MDC Reservoir #1 off Farmington Ave.. The hike (approx. 2.5 hours) will start on unmarked trails in the reservoir and connect to the Metacomet Trail. We will follow the Metacomet across Rt 4 until we enter the Hillstead Museum property, at which point we will hike Hillstead trails back to the parking lot.
